Psalms 78:43-68

43When He performed His asigns in Egypt
And His bmarvels in the field of Zoan,
44And cturned their rivers to blood,
And their streams, they could not drink.
45He sent among them swarms of dflies which devoured them,
And efrogs which destroyed them.
46He gave also their crops to the fgrasshopper
And the product of their labor to the glocust.
47He
Lit was killing
destroyed their vines with ihailstones
And their sycamore trees with frost.
48He gave over their jcattle also to the hailstones
And their herds to bolts of lightning.
49He ksent upon them His burning anger,
Fury and indignation and trouble,
Lit A deputation of angels of evil
A band of destroying angels.
50He leveled a path for His anger;
He did not spare their soul from death,
But mgave over their life to the plague,
51And nsmote all the firstborn in Egypt,
The ofirst issue of their virility in the tents of pHam.
52But He qled forth His own people like sheep
And guided them in the wilderness rlike a flock;
53He led them ssafely, so that they did not fear;
But tthe sea engulfed their enemies.

54So uHe brought them to His holy
Lit border, territory
land,
To this
Or mountain
,
xhill country ywhich His right hand had gained.
55He also zdrove out the nations before them
And aaapportioned them for an inheritance by measurement,
And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.
56Yet they
Or put to the test
,
actempted and adrebelled against the Most High God
And did not keep His testimonies,
57But turned back and aeacted treacherously like their fathers;
They afturned aside like a treacherous bow.
58For they agprovoked Him with their ahhigh places
And aiaroused His jealousy with their ajgraven images.
59When God heard, He
Or became infuriated
was filled with alwrath
And greatly amabhorred Israel;
60So that He anabandoned the aodwelling place at Shiloh,
The tent
Some ancient versions read where He dwelt
which He had pitched among men,
61And gave up His aqstrength to captivity
And His glory arinto the hand of the adversary.
62He also asdelivered His people to the sword,
And
Or became infuriated
was filled with wrath at His inheritance.
63 auFire devoured
Or their
His young men,
And
Or their
His axvirgins had no wedding songs.
64
Or their
His azpriests fell by the sword,
And
Or their
His bbwidows could not weep.

65Then the Lord bcawoke as if from sleep,
Like a bdwarrior
Or sobered up from
overcome by wine.
66He
Lit smote
,
bgdrove His adversaries backward;
He put on them an everlasting reproach.
67He also bhrejected the tent of Joseph,
And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68But chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount biZion which He loved.
